Lizzy and Susan Graduate from High School

In June, Dave and I traveled to Pennsylvania to see Lizzy & Susan graduate from high school (and visit with the rest of the family). The visit was way too short, but it was so great to see everyone.

Visiting with Family

We hadn't been at the hotel for 15 minutes when the receptionist called to say "Your sister is in the lobby". A few minutes later, Pati, Richard, Susan and Lizzy were in our room visiting. We had a nice (but short) visit and they left ('cause it was getting late already). Since it was dinner time in CA, Dave and I decided to head out and see if there was anything open. Hmmm... seems like a lot of places close before 9:30 pm in Shippensburg, PA! Somehow my honing instints led us straight to Pizza & Stuff, the local pizza favorite. I wasn't gonna tell, but Dave and I ducked in and shared a small pizza. Yummy! Then we stopped by the local mini-mart, loaded up on diet Coke and headed back to the hotel.

The next day we all met at mom's apartment for pizza (what else?) and had a great visit. Later Dave and I visited at the Dille's and then Pati, Jesse, Sue, Lizzy, Dave and I all headed out to an actual drive in theater to see Finding Nemo and Bruce Almighty. We set up chairs outside and sat back to enjoy. The movies were good and the sudden downpour during Finding Nemo was entertaining (except we missed the crucial plot point which led to Nemo being found!).

The Grove Family

The next day, we visited with Jenny and her kids (unfortunately, we never did hook up with Mark). The kids are just amazing... and Jenny's house is beautiful. I didn't manage to snap any pictures of the inside of the house, but Dave and I both got some wonderful pictures of the backyard and the kids.

Graduation

On the day of the graduation, Dave, mom and I helped Pati set up for the graduation party. The party had been planned for the Dille's backyard, but Mother Nature wasn't cooperating. A few days before we arrived the creek had risen to fill the yard, leaving it wet and muddy as it receded. So, the party was moved to Pati's church.

We spent the beginning of the day preparing food and setting up tarps and chairs, then rushed home to shower and change for the graduation. We saved six rows of seats for all of the friends and relatives that came to share in the occasion.

During the ceremony itself, Dave wandered about capturing some great pictures of the girls. I sat in my seat and captured some really crummy pictures. Oh well!
