On the road again... |
In January, Robin and I decided we were in desperate need of some time away from our hectic lives (who knew not working could be so hard?), so we headed up to Cambria for a long weekend. My awesome little car behaved flawlessly on the trip, and at one point we were averaging 60.2 mpg. |
Robin and I have been to Cambria several times before, and we stayed at our "usual" place -- right on the coast -- the Sea Otter Inn. |
We spent the days meandering along the coast... |
...and wandering through the galleries in downtown Cambria. Robin bought a cat for her garden. |
We drove up the coast a bit towards San Simeon to witness birthing season for a herd of Elephant Seals. At first the beach looked like a war zone, strewn with inert bodies... but after a while it became evident that most of the seals were just resting after a hard day of giving birth. Eventually, some of the moms woke up and shared a few choice words with us. |
We also visited a place called Cypress Gardens where I took some pictures of things I hope to paint some day. |
We ended the day by trying to capture the gorgeous sunset. Not sure I got it, but Robin got me trying to get it. |
