Wild Animal Park

Lizzy, Susan, Jesse, George and I all went to the Wild Animal Park on Wednesday. Thanks very much to my friend Tammy for giving us some free passes to the park!!!

First thing I did was take one picture of Lizzy and Jesse -- and then hand Lizzy the camera. That was the last I saw of it for hours!

We decided to ride the tram first -- to get an overview of the park. Lizzy took lots of cool photos!

Then we went to Lorikeet Landing to feed the birds.

Next we headed down to Heart of Africa in hopes of seeing a Cheetah. We did manage to catch a brief glimpse of one hiding in the bushes -- but just as I got the camera ready, it disappeared.

After a brief stop for ice cream (of course!) we headed for the Bird Show.

After another brief stop for a snack, we went back to the Benbough Ampitheater to see a Kenyan acrobatic troupe. The show was billed as a "high energy acrobatic show by visually stunning African acrobats" -- and they definitely lived up to that! The show was performed to some wonderfully energetic East African music and included limbo with fire, tumbling, dancing, and intricate balances.

The second picture below really gives you an idea of the energy and speed of their performance (granted this had a bit of a low shutter speed -- but still, it's pretty cool!).

Dinner at the Golden Dragon

The gang loads in the car for a trip up to Orange County.

The first stop is Pat Kent's house for a visit with Pat and Rachael. For the non-family members reading this page, Pat was my dad's second wife... Rachael is my half-sister.

Here's a glimpse of Pat's lovely yard. She's got the greenest thumb of anyone I know!

The next stop was the Golden Dragon restaurant for a BIG extended family dinner. The attendees included all five of my dad's kids, his two ex-wives and his current girlfriend (and of course, my three nieces). I thought I was going to die laughing when the waiter asked who the mom was! Fingers were pointing in all directions!

Here's all five of the siblings... me, Tom, Rachael, Pati and Matt. The second picture is very interesting. Everyone except Rachael was in motion... and she looks like she's thinking "Who are these people???"

I'm sure Miss Manners would croak if she saw this picture. This is my dad with his two ex-wives at the ends and his girlfriend, Marge, in the middle. From the look on Pat's face, I'd say she's thinking "Who are these people and what am I doing here?"
